According to legend, the monarch of a certain country died, leaving behind twin sons.
The royal advisers had to decide which of the boys would become the next king. So they watched the infants when they were asleep.
One twin slept with clenched fists, but the other slept with his fists open.
A wise adviser said, “Let the twin with the open hand become our next king,” and so they did.
Sometimes we hold onto things so tightly that God cannot work in our lives.
When we open our fists and let go, and confess any known sin, God meets us with His open hand of grace and love.
Open your hand, and God–in love–will come to you and set you free. That’s the miracle of the new birth, of forgiveness, of grace, and of a second chance.
Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
