Walking in High Places
| |
Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mike Agee. I am the new executive director of AllWorship, now a part of Atlantic Gateway Communications, Inc, a media ministry based in the Washington, DC, area. I am excited about what God has planned for this ministry, as we build on the excellent foundation laid down by Bill and friends at Reality Radio.
In the weeks to come, I will share some of those plans here. But this week, I'm immersed in the minutia of the transition and getting the technical details organized and settled. I ask for your patience in advance as I get used to this new platform. Please excuse any typos and mistakes you find in this, my first AllWorship newsletter.
I am thankful for the many friends and supporters of AllWorship. One of them is Pam Rehbein, who shared this wonderful reminder of how God gives us strength in difficult times. Thank you Pam for sharing this with us. And I look forward to talking with you here each week.
Mike
Walking the rough terrain, Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Ps 23:4
When you go hiking and have a staff or walking stick, it helps you up the rugged hills by aiding you up the terrain; and allows you to use your arms to help the burden and keep you from overusing your legs. On the way down, when walking on loose rocks, or when crossing dangerous, watery paths, it helps you keep your balance and keeps you from slipping. God’s Word is like that walking stick. We can lean on it to help us when we are going through the rugged terrain of life’s difficulties. It helps us keep our balance and our focus in a sinful world and keeps us from slipping into sin. In those times when we do fail, slip and fall, it helps us regain our footing and get back up. His Word is constant and strong, never breaking, never weak. As David said in the psalm, His staff (His Word) is comforting and helpful. Habakkuk stated it this way: The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and make me walk on my high places. Hab. 3:19. The hind is a female red deer. God specifically made their feet to be able to maneuver rocky, mountainous terrain. Mountains are beautiful, but can also be dangerous. There are loose rocks, deep ravines and steep climbs. If the Father makes our feet like that of a deer, He is enabling us to walk confidently on uneven, mountainous, rough, or steep ground. His power is especially felt when we don’t feel we climb our mountain in our own strength. We are able, because He is able. Even though we may find ourselves on a steep, difficult climb, God is there with us, giving us strength and helping us keep our footing. We can lean on him and use His Word to aid us in the climb.
