Writing daily devotions throughout the years, I've often been asked the question, "How do I find the will of God?"

There are probably many good scriptural approaches to answering this question; but I want to offer something very basic as you think about understanding the will of God.

That is, simply, that you'll know His will when you come to know the heart of God.

When you begin to understand, appreciate, and share the heart of God, then you really begin to search for and to desire the things that God desires; to be passionate about the things He is passionate for; even to be broken over the things that break God's heart.

Our Lord wants to share His heart with you.

Together, we volunteer with a boy’s 8th grade class at an inner city school. We’ve been going there every other week for three years. We know the value of a male in a young man’s life. And so many of these young men don’t have fathers that are very active. If you don’t have an interested dad, then there will always be something missing. It’s important for them to have role models that might be different than what they see in their everyday world. We invest in these kids. We care about each one individually and take time to hear whatever they want to talk about. So many kids today don’t have people they can trust.
