Our New Ministry: The Christian Heart
We'd like you to know about another not-for-profit ministry we launched late last year. The Christian Heart is a blog that highlights what people do in their everyday life to show their love for Jesus. It could be the guy that serves food at a homeless shelter, or the lady that makes dolls for foster children. Little things, but they may have an eternal impact. Our mission is to encourage Christians to put their faith into action. We have posted over 30 stories on our website. Here are two stories....

It all started in a trash dump called La Chureca in Managua, Nicaragua. It was the largest landfill in Central America. There, about 1500 people lived and worked everyday picking up recyclables, in horrific conditions. Large families were living in small tarp houses with dirt floors in the middle of mountains of trash. Children were huffing glue to fight hunger, and the smoke from the burning trash lowered their life expectancy every day. It was right there in La Chureca I felt Jesus' love and desire to give. The idea was simple---take portraits of families, print them, and give them to the families as gifts...

In the 70’s, I worked for a telephone call center that would call and check on blind and disabled people, to make sure they were okay. When I would talk with them, one thing kept coming up over and over again: they didn't have enough help for their everyday activities. So, I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit. I started looking for volunteers to run errands for the disabled, to get them out of their homes just to go shopping or take them to recreational activities. To read their mail, fill out paperwork, and take them to medical appointments. The need was overwhelming. I started this with my own money, but somehow God...
