Surely your goodness and love[mercy] will follow me all the days of my life. Ps 23: 6
Surely… Unquestionably, indeed, absolutely. Someone “having your back” not only means they are always there to support you, but they are there to back you up when you encounter difficulties when you are struck with obstacles and even literal, figurative, or spiritual battles. God is not only there during difficult times but also when things go smoothly. We tend to notice and want Him there more when going through difficulties.
Sometimes we feel like we need a whole support system to help us through something, a lot of people around us to surround us and lift us up, and that is true. There are times when others are needed to get us through difficulties. We need the support, help, and love of others. That’s why Ecclesiastes 4:12 says A cord of three strands is not easily broken. Those three are you, the other person, and God. We need others in this life, but sometimes other people are not enough. God has us. He has our back.
Love will follow me…The word for follow in Hebrew means to pursue. God is pursuing us, almost like chasing us, all the time, every day, 24/7, but He’s pursuing us with love.
All the days of my life…It doesn’t stop when we fail or after a certain amount of time has passed. This was the way David would say He’s got your back. He will never leave you or forsake you. Joshua 1:5
God is always good. He will always love you. He’s got your back. So rejoice and be thankful! God’s goodness never leaves us. What a wonderful blessing to know that the Father is always there, loving us, supporting our work for Him, and carrying us through difficulties.
Thank You, God, that You are always with us and love us, even in our failures and frailty. Thank you that even when I can’t feel Your presence, I can trust that You are still there, guiding, protecting, and loving me.
