A modern parable has been written about the tools of the enemy that I believe we can really learn from.
“Some time ago, an advertisement appeared in which the devil was putting all his tools up for sale. On the day of public inspection, each one of his tools was marked with its selling price: Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Doubt, Lying, Pride, and so on, were each on the block. Set apart, however, from all the rest of the pile, was a harmless-looking tool, well-worn, but priced very high–it was discouragement!
“Someone asked the devil, ‘why is that one priced so high?’ He replied, ‘Ah, that one is more useful to me than all the rest. With it I can pry open a man’s heart and enter, when I cannot get near him with any other tools. Once inside, I can lead him any way I choose. The tool is very worn because I use it on almost everyone, since few people know it belongs to me.'”
The enemy loves to sow discouragement–but believers have a tool much more powerful–encouragement!
We can speak a word into the lives of those who desperately need to hear it: to the college student adjusting to his new environment; to the missionary who may feel alone in the harvest field; to the disillusioned newlywed young couple; to the forgotten servants of God who labor in an obscure and
difficult ministry; to the orphans and the widows; to all those who need to hear a word in due season!
We have the power in our lips to rekindle a discouraged soul.
Let’s inspire one another with words of encouragement! It costs nothing, and reaps an eternal reward.
Encourage one another daily, as you see the Day draw near. Hebrews 10:25
by George Whitten
Discouragement is dangerous that is why children of God should feed in God’s Word and encourage each other
That is so true
I have recently gotten off all my anti-depressant medications. Satan knows that I am still a bit weak from the changes to my body. BUT. this word of encouragement reminding me of the one who seeks to destroy has built me up once again. I have printed it out to place on my bulletin board to remind me once again and several times as I reread it to keep my focus upward. I am lifted up. Thank you for sharing.
I look forward to these messages and forward them to a large group weekly. Glad to see they are back.
Wonderful message! We need to encourage ourselves daily in the Lord. No matter what we are going through let’s keep our hope alive in God because hope maketh not ashamed! God know what He’s doing. He has it all planned out!
THE TRUTH- DELIVERED
We get discouraged when we fail to put God first. When God is first there is no room for discouragement. Just lean on Him and He will take the dis out of dis-courage. He is our Courage. Through Him we are always Blessed……
it is great.
Great Message! I’m definitely going to encourage someone.
Thank you for this email on discouragement. The enemy has been using that in my life a lot lately. The courage to go on with what God has shown me back in June, has been marked with discouragemnet; will this situation ever turn around? Only God can change people, transform them. I just leave it in The Master’s Hand and stop the dis-couragement! I can’t let go of hope. In Joshua 1:9 He said “Haven’t I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Praise God. That a very wonderful message. Many are the times we give up and get discourage in some situation but through God’s faith and hope we can overcome this vice of the devil.
God bless you.
I appreciate the raw truth. It’s not alayws easy when satan has his hands in the deck of cards. But what you need to remember is GOD deals the cards! It’s not just about numbers on a scale as you know. It’s a total transformation spiritually, mentally and then physically The devil has had his claws in you long enough. Keeping you in my prayers! You CAN do this! I have all the faith in the world in you, but more importantly, so does God!XOXOCoach Anna
